CAIRO, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday held talks with visiting King Abdullah II of Jordan on the latest developments of the region, the official MENA news agency reported.
The two Arab leaders discussed the developments of the Palestinian cause and the Egyptian mediation efforts for the resumption of an inter-Palestinian national reconciliation dialogue.
The King's visit came after the shocks the Israeli politics have experienced after Ehud Olmert stepped down as Premier and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni took the leadership of the ruling Kadima party and started trying to form a coalition.
They also tackled the situation in Iraq, Lebanon and the western Sudanese region of Darfur, said the report.
Following the several hours' visit to Egypt, King Abdullah left Cairo on Tuesday evening.
