LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Six people were found dead on Monday in the Porter Ranch area near downtown Los Angeles in what police said was a murder-suicide.
The bodies were discovered about 7 a.m. local time in a residence in a gated community, said Los Angeles police officer Sara Faden.
Initial reports indicate all the victims are from one family.
The gunman apparently had financial problems and killed his mother, wife and three children before taking his own life, according to a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The case was still under investigation, the source said.
